DON’T Ignore These Stats, They Can Help Improve Your Efforts on Social Networks!

It’s not new and we already know it – social networks became a big part of our lives. Their potential is now being recognized in all sorts of businesses and each one of them is trying, in its own way, to discover and create something new that might put them ahead of the competition. Battlefield is huge with plenty of players and some of them don’t have resources to “throw punches” on all platforms so they are forced to focus their efforts on just one or two of them.

In this article, we’ll bring you some useful stats that can help you pick a perfect platform for your goals and improve your game while doing so.

“I think a simple rule of business is, if you do the things that are easier first, then you can actually make a lot of progress.” Mark Zuckerberg, chairman, chief executive officer and co-founder of Facebook

Facebook – The Leader

The most popular social network by Statista is Facebook and they are killing their competition with a number of 1.87 billion monthly active users. Facebook-owned WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger are holding 2nd and 3rd place while other social giants such as Instagram (600M) and Twitter (317M) are far behind.

Facebook is the fastest growing social network

The second chart will show us that Facebook is the fastest growing social network as well. From approximately 400M monthly active users in 2010, Facebook reached incredible numbers that we mentioned earlier in the article. The Same chart shows alarming statistics for Twitter which is behind Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and China’s WeChat.

Don’t forget about mobile campaigns

Social media usage is constantly growing on all platforms and according to Statista, as of fourth quarter of 2016, Facebook had more than 1.74 billion mobile monthly active users. So don’t forget to adjust your game for this field as well – it is still relatively new and full of opportunities.

You strive for attention – focus on visual content!

Did you know that 4 times more consumers prefer to watch a video about a product than to read about it? Or that infographics are “liked” and shared on social media 3 times more than any other other type of content? This is just part of numerous facts that can lead you to improve your game and we suggest you read more about them in this great article on HubSpot.

Are you searching for younger clients? Instagram might be perfect for you!

According to ScienceDaily, more than 90 percent of Instagram users are younger than 35. It is a very useful information if you are in a business or project that needs to focus on younger clients.

Astonishing stats about time spent on social media

It’s good to know these numbers as well…

While writing this article, I run into an interesting text on SmartBrief and it says that people will spend 5 years and 4 months on social media during their lifetime. More than on eating and drinking (3 years and 5 months), but less than on watching TV (7 years and 8 months). Out of all social networks, it seems that YouTube will take most of our time per day with an average of 40 minutes (Facebook 35, Snapchat 25, Instagram 15 and Twitter just 1).

It’s Your Turn Now

Hope these facts will help you in focusing your efforts and improving your business. Not all of us have the resources to be competitive on all social networks, but with the right strategy, even small players can achieve big things. The stats we showed in this article tell us that you can’t miss with Facebook as the network you are going to put all your focus on, but different people/companies have different goals and some of them might find other platforms more suitable for getting them to a position where they want to be. Once you made your choice, you should not forget about some other useful things we mentioned, such as the importance of visual content and getting your role in the field of mobile social media.
