Little girl doing big things

If you watched the Olympics gymnastics competition, you were probably amazed by a young lady called Simone Biles. Since I was fascinated with her beautiful routines, I ”peeked” into her social networks and was fascinated once again. Great posts made Simone one of the most interesting athletes to watch during the Olympics (and afterward) and brought her a lot of new fans.

What makes Simone Biles a winner

Let’s see what makes here social media so interesting to follow. In my opinion, the mix of sport success and ”out of the gym” life, spiced up with her cheerful personality will get the job done.

THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL

If you win five Olympic medals you must be a very good athete. And if you share that on your social media for everyone to see like she did, some people might find it annoying. But most, like myself, will think it’s really cool you shared the medals you are so proud of with us.  Her Twitter and Facebook page fans went “crazy”!

KISS, KISS

Biles didn’t win over our hearts by just winning medals. Her new friendship with a famous actor Zac Efron brought a smile to everyone’s face. By sharing this she has shown her other side, she showed us a cute girl whose teenage dream came true. And that’s the kind of content that melts our hearts.

POWERFUL GIRL, POWERFUL MESSAGE

What could be one of the best ways to show how great your sponsor is? Probably sharing something memorable that connects the athlete, sport and their sponsor, with a strong and motivational message.

Thanks for the support everyone! We gymnasts may be small, but we’ve proven we can be #SmallButPowerful! #Rio2016

Emojis are cute, funny and we use them every day. But what can be better than emojis? Simojis! It was a brillant idea to combine two things that people adore, and probably one of the best ways to engage fans to ”keep in touch” with their favorite athlete.

So excited and hope you have all checked out my new Simojis!Let me know if you have any fun ideas?!

DREAMS CAN COME TRUE

When she’s not winning medals and doing great routines, Biles is having a very interesting life. She brings her fans straight to the red carpet and lets them enjoy the glamour as much as possible. It’s always nice to see that ”an ordinary girl from the neighborhood” reached the top and that she still has her feet firm on the ground.

Tips & tricks for gymnasts

If you are a gymnast and you need some advice on what to do to engage fans on your social media accounts, keep reading because we have 10 simple tips for you!

BE THERE

The very first thing you have to do is step into the magic world of social networks.  Nowadays, they are one of the main tools that will help you build your brand. Carefully consider which networks you want to be active on. Bulid the strategy that will make you a winner in this “discipline” and the world is yours.

SHOW US WHAT YOU CAN DO

Out of all the athletes, gymnasts probably do the most fascinating things with their bodies. Show us what you can do and amaze us. Splits, flips and other amazing moves are always something worth watching, liking and sharing.

SHOW US WHERE YOU ARE

You are visiting some interesting place? Don’t forget to show us where you are! Your fans will ge happy because you ”took” them on a ”virtual trip” and your hosts will be even happier to have you there. If you combine your gymnastic skills and a cool location, the results can be even more impressive.

SHARING IS CARING

You’ve noticed a cool article or post about yourself?  Don’t forget to share it so your fans can get an ”extra dose” of you.  By doing this, you also show that you are thankful to those who write and care about you.

MOTIVATE OTHERS

Inspirational  thoughts by positive people are always cool to read. So don’t hesitate to share some wisdom to your fans which will make them feel better and encourage them to take on new challenges in life. Use your influence and make something good for your fans, they will be thankful and love you even more.

BE FRIENDLY

Although gymnastics are an individual sport, interaction with others on social networks is more than desirable.  Your gymnastic mates, coaches, other athletes or even those who are not related to sport can be your ”friends” and make you more visible and likeable. A photo with a smile and postive energy you share with them will make your potential fans your new fans.

SHOW EMOTIONS

No matter if you’re happy, sad or worried, because of something sportive or private, dare to share your feelings with people who love you.  Your fans will be happy to see that part of you and connect with you even more.

BE YOURSELF

Another good way to make your fans love you even more is to show them your private side, the behind-the-scene content. Of course, you don’t have to share every single detail of your private life, just show them who you are outside of the gym. Childhood photos, summer barbecue, pets, vacation…. everything works.

DARE!

You feel unconfortable about new technologies and social networks? Don’t! If you give them a chance, they can become your ”good friends”.  Be a ”leader” and set new trends! Your fans will appreciate the effort.

SPONSORSHIP = RELATIONSHIP

One thing that all athletes should do is show their fans how cool their sponsors really are. If you want to do that right, find a way to show that you and your sponsor are ”one body and one soul”. Show you fans that you and your sponsor breath like one, that you are perfect for each other, and you’ll both win their hearts.

Conclusion

Simone Biles showed that gymnasts can be the real stars of social networks. Hopefully our advice can help you in building you social media strategy. If you find them useful and you feel that Overtime can help you, don’t hesitate to contact us because we are big gymnastics fans.
